At Brunswick North West Primary School, we understand the importance of finding an educational environment that reflects the values and philosophies of your family. We also understand that for many families, starting at ‘big school’ is a new and exciting experience for you as well. We endeavour to support this process through small group tours with Leadership and student lead tours of operating classrooms and learning activities.
In addition to the small group tours, we conduct a number of group information evenings and open days which invite prospective parents and caregivers to discussion sessions and classroom visits to get a ‘feel’ for the daily life of our school community. Parents and caregivers are also invited to come along from 9 am for a coffee and muffin at Sprout to hear a description of involvement in our school from community members involved in our wonderful school.
Each year our school receives more enrolment applications than we are able to accept. Our school follows the Department of Education Victoria’s enrolment policy on enrolment admissions. In Victoria, children of compulsory school age are entitled to be enrolled at their designated neighbourhood school. The designated neighbourhood school is generally the government school within the closest proximity to the student’s permanent residential address.
At Brunswick North West Primary School, we receive many applications from families outside our designated neighbourhood zone. For all students who seek entry from outside our zone, places are granted according to the Department’s priority order of placement.
Enrolments will be confirmed in the first 2 weeks of August, for the following year. This allows time for an appeals process and for enrolled students to engage with the Foundation Transition program, which takes place in November and gives each child the opportunity to experience school life in preparation for the commencement of their time at school in the following year.

Enrolling your child in Year 7 is an important part of their education journey. We want to help you make the transition process as easy as possible. Each year, the department releases Year 6 to Year 7 placement information for schools and for parents/carers, with information packs available from the beginning of Term 2 for students commencing Year 7 the following year. These information packs, and other important information, can be found on Moving from primary to secondary school page of the Victorian Government website.
Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones.
Students residing in our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address.
